Lake Louise.
G'day all,
The last three days have been spent at the historic and opulent Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. This is a scene out of a movie and the lake is still semi frozen so I got the best of summer and winter scenery. The ski season only finished 2 weeks ago at Lake Louise fields, so there is still plenty of snow on the ground and today I hiked 10km through the trails around the lake, many of them with knee deep snow and deeper!!! More photos of the stunning lake and Hotel to come.
In Bannf tonight for 2 days to catch some CP action on the main line, then board the Rocky Mountaineer on Wednesday.
Hooroo for now.
Gregg :-)

Bit different to 'sunny one day, beautiful the next'.
ReplyDeleteJust a little Richard! I love it , but the winter in this area lasts for 8 months!! A bit too long for me!
DeleteWow the photos are breathtaking! Sounds like trip of your lifetime.thank you for sharing this trip with all of us. Enjoy! David and Laurie aka diva designs
ReplyDeleteThanks and my pleasure! In Banff now and the snow is starting to melt lower down, still a bit on the slopes though.

So Gregg, being from down under and all, have you seen or been in much snow before? Canada is very beautiful with snow scenes like this. Glad you and Lord Stan are having a grand ol time.
ReplyDeleteHi Robert, this is my first ever "serious" snow! We get pretty good snow in our Alpine region down south, but at only 2200m it's nothing like Canada. Yesterday I hiked through areas of deep snow around the hills of Lake Louise, it was magical and i would take it over a beach any day..LOL...but not for 8 months!! It's been great still having lots of snow on the ground but with mild weather!
